How to crash any iPhone or iPad within WiFi range | Apple | Nobody Is Perfect | NO iOS Zone

How to crash any iPhone or iPad within WiFi range | Apple | Nobody Is Perfect | NO iOS Zone | 21st Century Learning and Teaching | Scoop.it

"No iOS Zone" denial-of-service vulnerability could lead to your iPhone or iPad constantly crashing.

The researchers say that they first informed Apple of the problem in early October 2014, and that iOS 8.3 appears to resolve some of the issues they uncovered.

Chances are that this won’t be the last time that a serious denial of service flaw is found in iOS. Just last month, Apple released iOS 8.2 which fixed a flaw that allowed hackers to restart iPhones by sending them a maliciously-crafted Flash SMS.

More details of the “No iOS Zone” flaw can be found in the slide deck of the presentation given at the RSA conference.

5 Lessons Drawn from the LAUSD iPad Fiasco

5 Lessons Drawn from the LAUSD iPad Fiasco | 21st Century Learning and Teaching | Scoop.it
It’s becoming difficult to read the news in Los Angeles these days without running across yet another article about the problems faced by the sputtering  iPad initiative. Finally, LAUSD Superintendent John Deasy announced this week that they were suspending the contracts with Apple and Pearson amid increasing scrutiny and investigation of the bidding process. According to Deasy, “it will also give us time to take into account concerns raised surrounding the project”.

Sadly, just as many thought the LAUSD initiative was all about iPads, many will now view the fiasco as a reflection on the overall merits of technology use in education. The calls for a “back to basics” movement have been loud and may now become amplified. Ironically however, the LAUSD iPad project has always been handicapped by that very “basics” mentality that frames its approach to technology use. The shortcomings of the LAUSD initiative only highlight an ever more pressing need for serious educational reform.

Content Curation: Inspiration wants to be free — news for iPad users | 21st Century Learning and Teaching | Scoop.it

Another angle is to look at the iPad as a device to learn. It’s already had a huge impact on education with digital textbooks and connectivity to the Internet’s knowledge. But as educators know well, consuming knowledge passively is not as good as being active in the process: learning by doing works best and — like I did myself starting my iPad topic ===>  knowledge sharing is also a great way to learn. <===

5 Critical Mistakes Schools Make With iPads (And How To Correct Them) | Reality

5 Critical Mistakes Schools Make With iPads (And How To Correct Them) | Reality | 21st Century Learning and Teaching | Scoop.it

Focusing on iPad-versus.-laptop comparisons stifles the ability to see how the iPad facilitates student-centered learning. iPads are devices meant to compliment computers, not replace them.

So, people who seek equivalent functionality become frustrated, and fail to realize the intrinsic benefits and features of the iPad’s native design.

Instead, schools should focus their energies on what iPads do best to engender active learning. iPads enable students to kinesthetically connect with their work (especially important for young learners). These tactile elements – using fingers to zoom, rotate in, pinch close, or swipe across – as well as increasingly interactive and immersive apps, facilitate hands-on learning.

Gust MEES: DON'T forget ALSO about that the working force needs people who are FIT in Windows Computers as THE main OS is STILL WINDOWS!!!

IT Does Not Love iPads -- Campus Technology

IT Does Not Love iPads -- Campus Technology | 21st Century Learning and Teaching | Scoop.it
Students and faculty may love them, but IT personnel get a major headache when they try to integrate Apple tablets--and the company's TV technology--in an enterprise setting.

To state the problem simply: iPads are designed for consumer use, and as such, they're not set up for large-scale implementations. They're not even set up for two users to share the same device, much less for sharing over a network. For schools making a major investment in iPads on campus, the solution is a combination of new policies and investment in third-party tools for managing the devices.

This Revolution Is Not Being Televised
But even if your school works with an MDM, there's still the problem of Apple TV working within the campus enterprise. Apple's media receiver is the ideal device for mirroring iPads onto a large screen because the two devices can connect wirelessly. Even better, Apple TV is configured to receive iPad input, so content looks like it should without tweaking.

Apple does provide a VGA adapter that can connect iPads to televisions and monitors, but, depending on the version of your iPad, you still often have to fiddle to get it to display apps. So Apple TV seems like a natural choice for projecting iPad content. And faculty like Apple TV for features like the ability to stream Netflix.

But as UTC's Hoover says, "making Apple TV work on the campus network is an abomination on a grand scale."

As it is expected, in the last years, internet has become an essential tool for day to day activities including those with academic purposes. Now, an enterprise that never stops amazing its customers is apple since it can be guaranteed, from my perspective, Apple is the most innovative company talking about technology and new ways of using the net. Presently, Apple released 48 apps specially to be used in ipads that can help the learning process in the current classrooms. These apps are fused with different interests that our students can have such as music, cartoons and games, and they are mixed with certain areas that students are developing in their learning process. Also, parents will love these apps as the title in the article says because their children can spend time on their technological devices doing something different that leisure activities.
