Twitter as a Metacognitive Support Device | 21st Century Tools for Teaching-People and Learners | Scoop.it

Integrating social media into academia is not a novel idea. And since you are reading this, chances are you probably have been utilizing some feature of social media in the classroom for years. What is more interesting is asking why academia should exploit social media and, more specifically, Twitter.

#Satchat ~ A Great Example of Expanding Your PLN

#Satchat ~ A Great Example of Expanding Your PLN | 21st Century Tools for Teaching-People and Learners | Scoop.it

By: Brad Currie and Scott Rocco #Satchat is a great example of the power of social media in the educational realm and the benefit of expanding an educator’s Personal Learning Network (PLN).

The tools of the ever evolving #Satchat discussion are many. During the week Twitter’s direct messaging feature is used by @scottrrocco and @bcurrie5 as they prepare and discuss questions/topics for the upcoming chat. Then a Twitter Poll is used to survey participants about what it is they are interested in discussing during #Satchat. Daily promos are made on Twitter and also by way of an Audioboo .

During the actual chat Twitter for iPad, HootSuite and other Twitter tools enable participants to communicate and get their points across. After the chat Storify is used to archive the chats and make them available to those who participated. A wiki is also maintained by the very talented and co-founder of #NJED Bill Krakower @wkrakower.

The first PHSprincipalBlog (changed to Director 4/1/2009) post was on 9/18/2007.  (332 posts overall) I have been using Twitter for 4 years, 4 month...

We still have a lot of work to do, but I feel more strongly than ever before that we are willing to meet the challenges to make our learning environments relevant and engaging. We have the unique opportunity to design and build a new school complex that will be both flexible and transparent and able to accommodate learning for today’s world and the challenges of tomorrow.

I AM SO GLAD I STARTED TO BLOG AND TWEET!

The power of Twitter

The power of Twitter | 21st Century Tools for Teaching-People and Learners | Scoop.it
How I became a convert to Twitter • The teaching and education community on Twitter is truly inspirational...

Twitter is a fantastic collaborative tool. As teachers, how often do we get to visit other schools? In my experience, very rarely. Twitter has enabled me to collaborate with teachers in schools across the country. Combine this with cloud services such as DropBox and Google Docs and you can create and share resources and ideas quickly and easily.

The site is also a great place for discussion. It is amazing how creative you can be in 140 characters. Teachers, academics, technologists and other experts come together on Twitter to chat and discuss a whole range of topics – you can follow and contribute to these discussions by using hash tags.

Le dictionnaire de poche pour comprendre Twitter

Le dictionnaire de poche pour comprendre Twitter | 21st Century Tools for Teaching-People and Learners | Scoop.it

Vous en avez probablement surement déjà entendu parler. Twitter s'est imposé comme le réseau social de l'information. Malgré tout, un inconvéniant subsite : son jargon, parsemé de néologismes et autres barbarisme lexicaux.
