BAY Art Fest 2017

The 2017 Belmopan Active Youths Art Fest will be on Saturday, November 25th, at the Belmopan Civic Center.  Many Belizean artists will be there with their arts and crafts on display, along with live performances and much more.

 

"Inviting you all to the Annual BAY Art Festival on November 25, 2017 at the Belmopan Civic Center! Please come out and support our local artists...The Belmopan Active Youths is hosting the Third Annual Art Festival in the Capital City, Belmopan. Registration is now open and will proceed until November 17th, 2017. We are inviting all artist in Belize to partake in exhibiting and retailing their artwork!"

BAY Lounge Grand Opening

The Belmopan Active Youths are having the grand opening of the BAY Lounge on Thursday, January 14th, from noon to 10:00pm.  Congratulations, BAY!


"BAY invites you to the grand opening on January 14th 12pm-10pm to one of the first social enterprise in Belmopan, our BAY LOUNGE!  This is a huge milestone for our organization and we very much hope that you will attend!  We are grateful to all our partners and volunteers that have contributed in any way to make this possible!  Special thanks to the US Embassy through their support under the BAY Job Creation and Entrepreneurship Development Project, the Belmopan City Council, YWCA for training in the culinary arts, our BAY Lounge Committee for their countless hours in planning and execution, the BAY Members/volunteers and our many other partners!"

USNS Comfort Visits Belize

The U.S. Naval Hospital Ship Comfort ported in Belize today, and will be here through the 18th.  They are having free medical clinics around Belize.  They are having clinics in Hattieville and Independence, and while there was one scheduled in Bullet Tree Falls, they might save that for next time.  The Belmopan Active Youths are organizing volunteers to help with the clinics. 


"The USS Comfort, a medical and educational exchange ship, will be visiting Belize from April 11- April 20.  As part of its outreach, it will be performing medical services in two sites—one in Hattieville Government School and one in Independence High School.  BAY is working with the organizers to find volunteers to help at the sites to do things like hand out water, distribute coloring books to kids, etc.  If you have the time please take on this opportunity let us know!!  It's gonna be awesome!!  Transportation and lunch will be provided.  Contact the BAY Office (822-1545) for more information if interested!!"

The Belmopan Active Youths teamed up with the Red Taigaz to refurbish Independence Park.  Thanks, BAY, and Red Taigaz!


"This weekend we made some more progress on our Community Park Rehab Project at the Independence Park.  We were happy to have some players from the Belmopan Red Taigaz Elite Basketball Team assist us with completing the painting of our playhouse and constructing one more sandbox.

It was a successful and fun-filled day!  We look forward to continuing building strong partnerships with organizations in Belmopan and by extension our community.  Together we can make our City a better place for everyone!

The Cayetanos, and Panerrifix both played at the Peace and Love Concert, which was held in Belmpan.

The Love and Peace Concert for youth development will be next Sunday, May 11th, at Mae Gordon Park, starting at 3:00pm.  Pen Cayetano and his family band will be playing at the event.  Panerrifix Steel Band will be playing also, and the Belmopan Active Youth Marching Band will be there.  Don't miss this great event.

Cayo Cleans Up at Band Fest

Congratulations to the Benque Marching Band(picture is from their practice video) for winning 1st place at Band Fest.  Band Fest was yesterday in Corozal, and Cayo really cleaned up.  The SISE Dreams took 3rd place in the marching band category.  The Belmopan Active Youths took 1st place for Drum Corps.  


"At the end of the event, St. Luke “Purple Spirit” marching band won the Drumline competition.  In the Drum Corps category, the champion is the Belmopan Active Youth group.  They took home $4,000 and a trophy.  Second place was won by the Holy Redeemer Marching band.  Coming in third was the St. Luke marching band.  In the Marching Band with Wind Instrumet category, Benque Viejo Marching Band walked away with first prize, taking home $6,000, a tropy and medals.  Second place in this category was won by the Corozal Community College marching band while the San Ignacio/Santa Elena Dreams Marching Band captured third prize."

Congratulations to Gem Turner, who won the Youth Minister's Leadership award at the Belize Youth Awards at the Bliss Centre yesterday.  The Department of Youth Services picked another well deserving awardee, and reading about her hard work is inspiring to say the least.  Congratulations, Gem!

 

"The Belmopan Active Youths is pleased to congratulate its secretary, Ms. Gem Turner, on her achievement today.  Gem IS the 2013 recipient of this year's Youth Minister's Leadership Award for the Belize Youth Awards.  Not only is Gem a hardworking, dedicated and ACTIVE member of BAY but she is also the President of the University of Belize's Inter Varsity Christian Fellowship; Youth Leader, Praise Team Member and Sunday School Teacher at the Belmopan Baptist Church.  Congratulations, Gem!  Job well done!"

Belmopan Sports Wednesday

The Bandits host the Verdes tomorrow at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium for the semifinals of the PLB Belikin Cup.  The game starts at 7:30pm.  The Belmopan Active Youth is having their basketball final at Hilltop Court, starting at 7:00pm.  They'll have Above the Influence playing the Ball Hard Live Free.

BAY Announces Slogan Winners

The Belmopan Active Youth club had a poster and slogan competition recently.  Luis Guevara from Our Lady of Guadelupe High School won with the slogan 'Count on Me to be Drug Free.'  Egner Oscal, from Belmopan Comprehensive High School, won the poster competition.  Congratulations, Luis and Egner!

Sweet Belize Official Video

Happy Garifuna Settlement Day!  David Smith released the official music video for Sweet Belize yesterday to celebrate the holiday.  Not only is It a beautiful song, but the video complements it perfectly, and starts off with some Garifuna drumming.  Keep up the great work, David Smith!
