Video of the day. Great footage of the start of the LRM yesterday, and the music choice, The Final Countdown, by Europe, really fit perfectly.

The Embassy of Mexico is having a free concert at the Cayo Welcome Center on Friday, April 25th, at 7:00pm. It's entitled 'Un Viaje de Ida y Vuelta' and will have 3 musicians from Mexico performing. "During this concert,the pianist Melanie Lopez, the guitarist and composer Victor Celis and the soprano Cristina Woodward will take the listeners to a musical journey through Europe, to countries such as France, Spain and Germany, ending the trip in Mexico, particularly in Yucatan. The concert will include sound combinations of piano-soprano, guitar-soprano, piano-guitar andending with the combination of the three instruments."

Lets all welcome back the Belize National Dance Company!
"The Belize Dance Company returned to country on Wednesday, September 12, 2012, after a two-month tour of France and Spain. The Company represented Belize at the prestigious international folkloric Festival du Sud 2012 along with 13 other countries. This Festival brought together over 1,200 musicians and dancers from each continent to share their cultural music and dances. The dance company represented the music and dance of the Maya, Creole and Garifuna cultures of Belize in 31 different villages, towns and municipalities."

The Garifuna Collective are having fun wowing Europe on their European Tour. They played at the Afro Pflingsten Festival in Switzerland on Sunday. Have fun guys! In related news, the World Culture Band, without Sam Harris while he's in Europe, still plays most Sundays at Eva's(Eva's is Eva's again).

Video of the day. Take a step back in time, almost a century, with this classic video of the banana trade in British Honduras. It follows the crop from Belize to Northern Europe. Interesting, to say the least. "Clearing forest for banana plantation. Cultivation (including air spraying of crops) and harvesting and transportation of the crop to the port for export to Europe. Loading of ocean freighters and ocean voyage (including stop at Kingston, Jamaica) and unloading at Rotterdam."
