The 2nd Bio-Barrier has been installed, this one being placed on the Mopan river at Garbutt Falls in Benque.  The bio-barrier helps to catch trash, and is made of recycled plastic bottles.  Thanks, Rotary, and everyone that helped with this amazing initiative!

"Last Sunday March 8, 2020, our club installed a second bio-barrier on the Mopan River. This will greatly help to trap floating solid plastic from continuing its way down into town. This barrier will help us identify Benque Viejo's waste and to be more conscious about the importance of clean Waters...

It takes a great deal of work to make the barrier and install it. It will trap floating trash and debris which will then be bagged and removed from the river. Thank you to the Club members, the Rotaract Club of Benque and other community groups and members who are making this clean-up effort so effective!"

Feelgood news of the day.  The Rotaract Club of Benque was able to help 70 students from Calla Creek with tuition, backpacks, and school supplies.  A huge thank you to everyone involved in this year's Adopt a Child project.  Here's to many more of them in the future.

Congratulations, Rotaract Club of Benque!  They were named club of the year.  They do so many great community service projects.  Well deserved.

Feelgood news of the day.  The Rotaract Club of Benque distributed clothes to needy people in Arenal.

"La actividad Vistiendo Latinoamérica nace después de una exitosa jornada durante la semana Rotaract 2015, en la cual se hizo entrega de algo de ropa a personas necesitadas. Se decidió hacer la actividad mucho más grande. Gracias a un generoso patrocinador, conseguimos donación de múltiples pacas de ropa, las cuales resultaron ser hasta más de lo que nosotros mismos podíamos entregar. La actividad creció al decidir coordinar una entrega masiva de ropa a personas desafortunadas a nivel Latinoamérica, con muchos contactos de otros clubes Rotaract que hicimos durante la Semana Mundial. Tuvimos la participación de 22 clubes Rotaract a nivel latinamericano. Más de 1,500 personas beneficiadas en Honduras y más de 3,400 beneficiadas por los demás clubes a nivel latinoamericano."

Rotaract celebrated 49 years this month, and the 3 clubs in Cayo have been doing lots of community service projects.  Thanks, Rotaract, for all you've been doing for Belize over the decades!  

"Today the Rotaract Club of Benque Viejo re-painted Pedro Mena Park as few weeks ago it was vandalized. We want to thank the Rotarians that came from Cristo Rey to do community Service, also the neighbors that’s assisted in the painting."

The Rotaract Club of Belmopan is gearing up for their Duck Race fundraiser, and they worked with UB for to do a blood drive.  They represented Rotaract well at Earth Hour.  

The Rotaract Club of San Ignacio helped refurb the Iguana Creek Primary School, and has been an active participant in the National School Refurbishment Project, with funding from Westrac.  

The Rotaract Club of Benque also held their Rota-Copa football tournament.

The club distributed Christmas lunch and food baskets to all the families in the village and all the children received toys! Feelgood news of the day.  The Benque Rotaractors teamed up with Ka'ana, and visited Ocatavia Waight Center to have some fun with the older generation.  Thanks, Rotaract, and Ka'ana!

"The Rotaract Club of Benque Viejo visited the elders at Octavia Waight Center on a conjoint project with KA’ANA Resort.  The elders were given snacks and drinks, and members of the club also interacted with them by playing games, music, and ladies got their nails painted."

Feelgood news of the day.  The Benque Rotaractors made and distributed Christmas care packages to the 20 elderly individuals.  Thanks, Rotaract!  

"Christmas represents the season of selfless giving; and to us at Rotaract Club of Benque Viejo it represented an opportunity to share with our community members! 

This year we focused on our elderly by delivering "Christmas care packages" to 20 elders between San Jose Succotz Village and Benque Viejo Del Carmen. Each basket contained hygeneic, personal and self care items along with a handmade and customized Christmas ornament.

Feelgood news of the day.  The Rotaract Club of Benque and their partners were able to supply 89 students with backpacks and school supplies in San Jose Succotz.  Here's to a great school year.  Thanks, Rotaract!

"An education starts with the right equipment! The Rotaract Club of Benque Viejo In collaboration with Central TV and Internet joined forces in equipping 50 children ages 5-10 with a back pack to ensure they can pursue their formation as eager and inspirational learners in their upcoming academic school year.

The project: Back-2-School Backpack Project for San Jose Succotz Village received further donations from Princess Entertainment (free zone) Ltd Which supplied the backpacks with basic school supplies including 8 additional backpacks for 10+ year children.
Further donations included a total of 79 Drawstring bags courteously donated by Mrs. Theresa Krebs.

A total of 89 children benefited by our Back-2-school Backpack Project For San Jose Succotz Village.  The Rotaract Club of Benque Viejo continues to collaborate extensively in helping our communities and ensuring to be the inspiration to each of them.

We are Rotary in Action in the communities of Benque Viejo, San Jose Succotz, Calla Creek and surrounding villages!"

Feelgood news of the day.  The Rotaract Club of Benque distributed food to people in need over the weekend.  This was their 4th annual food drive, and they delivered care boxes to people in Arenal, Benque, Calla Creek, and Succotz.  Thanks, Rotaract!

In related news, the San Ignacio Cancer Society is having their Cancer Walk on Saturday.

The Rotaract Club of Benque is teaming up with Oceana to clean up the Mopan river from Benque to Succotz.

In related news, Oceana Belize is organizing river and coastal clean ups all over Belize on Saturday.  They have a few in Cayo.

"Join us for the river clean up campaign on September 30th 2017 at 6am at the Centennial Park. The route from Benque Viejo by "La Bomba" to San Jose Succotz by the ferry."

The Rotaract Club of Benque Viejo is having a Motmot Heritage Education Camp from Friday, July 7th, through Sunday, July 9th.  It'll take place in Succotz, and you can get more information at the Succotz public library.

Congratulations, Ricky!  The Benque Rotaractor is one of only 12 winners worldwide of the Scotiabank International Bright Future Young Leaders Award.  Well deserved.

"The Scotiabank International Bright Future Young Leaders Award is awarded to youths who make outstanding contributions to their communities. To be eligible, applicants must reside in a participating country, complete 100 hours of volunteerism in a minimum of three of the Bank's six philanthropic pillars - education, arts, health, social services, sports. and environment. The award promotes volunteerism in the young generation and each year 12 winners are chosen worldwide."

The Rotaract Club of Benque has teamed up with the DYS to bring the 2017 Rota-Copa to Benque.  The all day football tournament will be on Saturday, March 18th, at the Amin Hegar Filed in Benque.  

"World Rotaract Week will be celebrated from March 13th to 19th, 2017, and the Rotaract Club of Benque Viejo in partnership with the Department of Youth Services will host a one day football marathon on March 18th, 2017.  

Through this medium we take the opportunity to invite you and your team to join the ROTA-COPA 2017 football marathon to be hosted at the Amin Hegar Football field in Benque Viejo Town, starting at 8 a.m. until.  Your team may be a co-ed (both males and females)."

"Rotaract club of Benque Viejo in partner with Unicomer Belize Limited went to bring "Navidad del Niño Beliceño" this afternoon at Calla Creek Village. We celebrated Christmas with them making it an afternoon filled with joy and happiness. We shared the Christmas spirit with them by giving gifts, treats, toys to the kids from the village and grocery baskets to families from the village.
