Belize - A Glimpse Of Biodiversity

Video of the day. Belize: A Glimpse of Biodiversity. Nicely done.

'Belize: A Glimpse of Biodiversity is the first 100% independent short documentary from Scott H.Wile. The short Bamboo Chicken Documentary presented by Wild Card Adventures offers but a mere glimpse at some of the Central American Biodiversity of Belize. In this documentary we merely scratch of the surface of tropical biodiversity as we travel to tropical rainforests, into the caves of Saint Herman's Blue Hole National Park and through the rainforest to catch sight of the wild things, native to Belize. Presented by Wild Card Adventures.

Filmed entirely in Belize.
Lamanai Riverside Retreat
Monkey Bay Wildlife Sanctuary
Saint Herman's Blue Hole National Park

All footage was captured organically while on vacation in between doing vacation-y things.'

Belize, Please

Belize, Please | Cayo Scoop! The Ecology of Cayo Culture | Scoop.it

'Adventure during the day, luxury at night' is how Denver Life magazine explains spending time in Cayo.  Many local businesses get raving reviews, including Mountain Equestrian Trails and the San Ignacio Resort Hotel.  On the food front, Crave was highly recommended.

"Explore a cave! Exploring the Belize caves with a headlamp is like the ultimate treasure hunt. Sparkly stalagmites hang from the narrow caverns, where you’ll find broken pottery pieces that ancient Mayans once sacrificed to the rain gods. One great option: the cave at St. Herman’s Blue Hole National Park near Belmopan. It’s worth hiring a tour guide who knows all the nooks and crannies (and can point out the bats), as well as relay local lore. Or, chase a waterfall! The best way to do so is by horseback. Arran Bevis from MET Adventure Outfitters leads epic trips. He’s like a modern-day Tarzan, parting branches with a machete and pointing out trees you could strike open should you need water. metbelize.com

The atmosphere at Crave House of Flavour is so quaint, it’s like dining in a friend’s living room, sharing carafes of sangria. Yet the food is what you’d expect from a high-end, big-city restaurant. The ever-evolving menu might include beer-braised short rib risotto or crispy cassava crusted fish fillets. Save room for dessert because there’s an ice cream shop next door."

7 Astonishing Cayo Caves You Should Explore

7 Astonishing Cayo Caves You Should Explore | Cayo Scoop! The Ecology of Cayo Culture | Scoop.it

Cayo has quite a few entrances to Xibalba.  Read about 7 of the more common caves in Cayo in this travel article from Chaa Creek.  Did you know that the sink hole near St. Herman's Cave is called Actun Loch Tunich?

"Caves tell the history of Belize, having been an intricate part of the Maya religion and culture.  The Maya used caves as ceremonial sites and evidence of these activities can be found inside these caves.  Relics, principally in the form of shards of pottery, are very common."
