Spartacus Rehabilitated

Spartacus Rehabilitated | Cayo Scoop! The Ecology of Cayo Culture | Scoop.it

Feelgood news of the day!  A happy ending to the long journey of the rescued howler monkey, that had a severed hand.  Spartacus, after many years at Wildtracks, and a few surgeries at the Belize Wildlife Referral Clinic, is being released, along with his mate, Jenny.  Dr. Isabel Ford credits Spartacus as being the patient that inspired her to open the BWRC as a fully operational veterinary clinic.  Thanks to all, and congratulations to Spartacus.

"Spartacus, found on the ground at night in a rainstorm at Hickatee Cottages in Toledo District, a bedraggled 4.5 month old baby.  His left hand was nearly severed, and he was rushed through to Belize Wildlife & Referral Clinic, where he was patched up and put on the road to recovery.  His wrist has needed another operation since then, but he is now fully recovered and assessed as being ready for life in the wild, with Jenny"
