If you knew Matt, you knew he was as positive as they come.  It's shocking that a person so full of life is gone.  There will be a candlelight vigil in his honor at the Cayo Welcome Center tomorrow night at 6:30pm.  Earlier, in Spanish Lookout, they'll have the funeral and celebration of life.  We'll all miss you, Matt!

The Cornerstone Foundation participated in the 16 Days of Activism events in Cayo over the weekend.  They were at the Cayo Welcome Center and at Columbus park for the candlelight vigil.  Thanks, Cornerstone!

The Jasmine Alert Executive Body is organizing a Candlelight Vigil for this evening, Saturday December 22nd, from 6pm to 7pm, at designated parks all around Belize, including Belmopan and San Ignacio in Cayo.

"Jasmine Alert Executive Body hereby invites all Belizeans Nationwide, to a Candlelight Vigil for the VICTIMS of the Massacre at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown Connecticut USA.  We must share the pain and send our condolences to those that suffered such great loss and tragedy; seeing that we are all members of the same family and the same race (the human family and the human race).  We also request that all Belizeans who have lost a child to Gun Violence, and all those whose child has been either violated, maimed or killed by a kidnapping/abduction or Enticement, to join this Vigil, bearing the Name of the Child, Friend or Family member that has been hurt or killed."

A candlelight vigil will be held tonight at 6:30pm in front of Kayla Burgess' house in Belmopan.

"A candle light march will also be held in Belmopan on Tuesday March 25th at 6:30 p.m. from in front of Kayla's house at #10 Oriole Street around the Ring Road and end in front of Belmopan Comprehensive School.  Kindly wear either a green or white top. Candles will be provided. All are invited.  Funeral will be on Wednesday March 26th at 2 p.m. Nazarene Church in Independence Village.  A bus will leave at 10 a.m. in front of BTL- Belmopan"

The Purple Movement will have a candlelight vigil and walk at the Cayo Welcome Center Wednesday evening.  Please go out and show your support for their cause. 

"We ask that everyone who attends bring their own candles and also wear purple and/or purple ribbon in solidarity of the cause.  Feel free to bring along banners of your organization or any other memorabilia from other murder victims of criminal injustice.

The Candle Walk will be start infront of the Welcome center, down to Hudson street, across the Hawkesworth Bridge, divert infront of the Social Security Building, onto GeorgePrice Avenue, across the small wooden bridge and back to the Welcome Center where a short service along with musical entertainment and presentations will be made."
