60 films coming from over 40 countries to be presented in the 7th Cairo International Women’s Film Festival (29 November – 4 December 2014).

During 6 days, Cairenes will have the opportunity of enjoying a wide selection of the most remarkable works made by women, as well as exchanging ideas and experiences with international guests of the festival, coming from Lebanon, Palestine, Cuba. Spain, The Netherlands, Denmark, Portugal, Algeria, Germany and Czech Republic. The festival takes place in Creativity Center (Opera House), Falaki Theatre (AUC campus) and Goethe Institute. All the films are subtitled into Arabic and English and the screenings are for free.

Her Film Project is engaged in various activities to help enable women filmmakers to share their work and to empower audiences to support new films by women filmmakers all over the world.

There are currently over 100 women's film festivals held in more than 30 countries across six continents.

Jane Campion says the industry keeps women's films out of view, as only two by female directors are up for Palme d'Or

"Award-winning producer and lifelong horror fan Mai Nakanishi will host a festival of short horror films by female directors from around the globe on Saturday and Sunday in Shibuya Ward, Tokyo.

“Scream Queen Film Festival Tokyo” is the official Japanese version of the Viscera Film Festival, an annual event held in Los Angeles since 2007 that features short horror films created by women.

Nakanishi, 32, collected 25 short horror movies from seven countries, including the United States, Britain, Canada and Japan, for the Tokyo festival. She did most of the work for her festival single-handedly—organizing, selecting films, negotiating with film directors and writing subtitles. “In the field of horror, women are a minority both as filmmakers and audience. So I wanted to support them,” Nakanishi said."
