Emergence of Social/Search in 2014

Emergence of Social/Search In 2014
Just as Einstein collapsed space and time into Space/Time 2014 will see the reality of Social/Search. Social/Search is, again much like Einstein's Space/Time, a seamless fabric where one concept contributes to the other in a dance so intimate it is impossible to tease them apart.

The promise of Social/Search has been sitting in the room for a few years. 2014 will see the reality of Social/Search.

Of all the social networks, Twitter is by far the one I find most challenging. The math itself is mind boggling. Before, I tried building followers, it wasn't all that difficult reading the tweets. Today I am bombarded with over 30,000 tweets a day and there is simply no way to follow them. Doubling my followers would be .... great, but if everyone is like me than no one is reading anything!. I think I need a better management plan.

ViralSearch from Microsoft Research Labs is a new means to navigating, searching, content that spreads over social media.

ViralSearch visualizes how stories get distributed and how they virally get spread online.

From the official site: "An analysis of almost a billion information cascades on Twitter news, videos, and photos has produced the first quantitative notion of whether something has indeed gone viral, thereby enabling further research into topic experts, trending topics, and viral-incident metrics."

A fantastic tool, but still in its testing phase.

Hope it will soon be available to many.

As it turns out, social media and search go hand-in-hand...

From Facebook and Twitter, to Pinterest and MySpace (yes, it still exists), social media users are often on the search for… something.

For marketers, understanding the searches that lead to improved engagement is critical.

To that end, Azntaiji Multimedia and SocialRadius have produced a new infographic highlighting exactly what so many of us are searching for.

Not a surprise at all that the top 5 searched topics socially are (1) Technology / Scoial Media, (2) Fitness, Health, & Sports, (3) Music, (4) F&B, & (5) Travel... I think that this one dropped Movies / Cinema for sure

Michelle Gilstrap's curator insight, May 22, 2013 12:37 PM
