Ensure a Photo Is Legit With Google Reverse Image Search

Ensure a Photo Is Legit With Google Reverse Image Search | KILUVU | Scoop.it

If the past few years have taught us all something it’s that “fake news” has found its home on social media.

While “fake” posts are often news stories, they can also be images that people share, sometimes without the knowledge that what they’re sharing isn’t factual.

For instance: Last week French President Emmanuel Macron posted an image along with a post calling for an emergency order to help save the Amazon rain forest.

90 VR Education Apps for Vive, Rift and WMR – Immersive Learning News

90 VR Education Apps for Vive, Rift and WMR – Immersive Learning News | KILUVU | Scoop.it
When it comes to locating educational content for a PC-powered VR headset like a Vive, Rift or WMR, it can be a little tricky for three main reasons:
1. There are multiple app stores to find content and some of the content can only be found in certain app stores.

2. Not all the stores have an easy to find Education section.

3. Some content which would be great in the classroom isn’t actually tagged as educational.

12 Great Free Keyboarding Games to Teach Kids Typing | KILUVU | Scoop.it
Over the last few weeks I received a couple of emails asking for web games to help kids learn touch typing. I went through my archive and did some extra researching and came up with the list below. Touch typing is typing without using the sense of sight to find the keys. A person possessing touch typing skills will know their location on the keyboard through muscle memory.

5 EdTech Tools That Have Recently Caught My Eye - | KILUVU | Scoop.it
Starting to integrate technology can be intimidating.

So many choices, new ideas being shared all of the time through social media, blogs, books, Teacher Professional Development, and more.

I find the best time to walk away with new ideas is right after a big event dedicated to edtech. With conference season upon us, maybe you recently attended a conference or edcamp or read something and now have a long list of new ideas which can be overwhelming.

14 Web Based Video Tools for Teachers - More Than A Tech | KILUVU | Scoop.it
Engaging students has become increasingly difficult as technology has continued to shape our culture.  Overheads, DVDs, and lecturing just don’t cut it.  This is a generation of students growing up with YouTube, Vimeo, and Khan Academy to name a few.  So many creative, eye grabbing, funny videos to choose from, and all of them are available on a device that fits in their pocket.

One of my goals this summer is to be more active on Twitter. I started making this guide just for myself, then realized other science teachers could benefit from having this info all in one place. 3 Powerful Resources for Teaching Media Literacy

3 Powerful Resources for Teaching Media Literacy | KILUVU | Scoop.it
Last February, I received a heartfelt note from one of Scope’s advisors expressing concern about media literacy in this era of rampant fake news. Could I, he asked, address media literacy in an article in Scope? He wasn’t the only one to ask. Many of you have reached out to me recently about your need for media literacy materials. "How do we equip students with the tools they need to be savvy, skeptical consumers of digital content?" is a question I hear again and again.
