First, there was the internet. Then, social media came along. Now, the newest untamed frontier is ‘human media.’ That is to say, human media is a closer, more personal form of social media, but where people communicate face to face, as opposed to communicating through text. And more and more people and businesses are starting to realize just how big human media is and is going to be. What Is Human Media? Human media connects people more intimately than regular social media sites. Through platforms like Google+, and using tools like G+ Hangouts, people and businesses are able to defy geographic distances to talk face to face. The entire world is at your disposal, as you can join or watch Hangouts in an infinite number of topics. You can join or watch Hangouts that are cooking lessons, virtual knitting circles, financial advice, DIY projects, medical care, and so much more. Marketing trend? 'Glamour' is monetizing its Hangouts by bringing product placements into the mix.... In the two years since its launch, publishers large and small have experimented with Google Hangout to host group video chats with well-known guests, readers and staff, hoping to engage readers and attract new followers. Now, Google is helping publishers monetize their efforts. On Monday, Glamour magazine is launching a month-long series of Hangouts featuring staffers, online personalities — and products. Are you using Google+ to promote your business?
This week I published the post ‘How to Find Your Very Own Best Time to Share on Facebook’ so that the recent decrease in Facebook reach (due to the algorithm change) can be improved. Another way to make sure that this change doesn’t affect your website or your business too much is by stepping up your efforts on other networks like Twitter, Linkedin, Pinterest, Google+, etc. I have covered several tips on how to use Pinterest and other social media, but I haven’t written much on Google+ on this blog so here’s a great infographic by BlueGlass on how to use Google+ for business which is loaded with a lot wonderful tips…
Why should you care about Google Author Rank? Alone it will not make your search efforts sink or swim, but content creators who use it see great rewards.
While some may call Authorship “Klout Lite,” it does represent Google’s attempt to determine author strength so they can validate search ranking. Influence will be determined by social network validation online, including the Google+ network.
The use of Authorship as a search factor creates a strong need for content creators small and large to adapt the rel=”author” tag and feature Google+ as a primary social network on your web site....
In my opinion, we saved the most interesting social network for last. Obviously, optimization and Google+ is going to be an interesting topic, given that most of the SEO industry is most focused on Google+’s owner, Google. Out of all the social networks, Google+ doubtlessly has the most influence over your business’s SEO. For this reason alone, you should have a Google+ page, and you should optimize it.
Optimization is an important key to success on any social network, but it reaps so many more rewards on Google+ in particular. If you’ve tried your hand at Google SEO and found it extremely complicated, don’t worry. It’s not as complex on the company’s social network. Complete the below steps, and you’re well on your way....

The website with the strongest G+ presence, on the other hand, ended up ranking as the 8th result for its target keyword....

... If you’ve got Google +, you simply need to log in to your account and click “Start a Hangout”. From there, you get a series of prompts that take you through the steps you need to get schedule and start your Hangout. Be sure to check out Hangouts on Air, a feature that gives you the opportunity to broadcast your Hangout to others on your YouTube channel, on Google + or on your website. And while it has got a lot of pros, Google + does have its cons. One of which, is that you’ve got to have a Google ID to use it. That also means that for people to join your Hangout, they’ve got to have one too. And the more apps you add to your Hangout, the slower your connection speed, resulting in lag time. So how you use Google Hangouts to market your small business? Here are seven ways to help you get started....
When Google launched its social networking service, Google Plus, during the summer of 2011, tens of millions of people clamoured to sign up for an account. But within months, critics had panned the new service, pointing to user pages bereft of meaningful content and exchanges. They said the new social site just wasn't, well, social. It seemed as though Facebook had cornered the market -- Google was too late to the party. Perhaps not. According to data released this week by Internet analytics firm GlobalWebIndex, Google Plus is racking up large numbers of new users and continues to outpace Twitter as the world's number two social network, behind perennial titan Facebook. The reasons behind Google Plus's growth -- it now can boast 359 million active users, up 33 percent from 269 million users at the end of June 2012, according to GlobalWebIndex -- are complex and tied to Google's effort to build a connecting layer across all its services, including search, YouTube, maps and other products. Log into one, and you've logged into the lot....
Will Google fold YouTube, Gmail and Places into Google Plus? Suddenly 1.5 billion users on one platform, with Businesses having only one Page to manage. Good or no? Oh, and Google’s Authorship Markup suddenly screws with your SEO (search engine optimisation) and SMO (social media optimisation) in ways that you can only imagine. (Google’s SMO search algorithm) The images show the eery similarity between the rebranding of YouTube into OneChannel and Google Plus. Of course Google Plus could get a new name of OneChannel instead?...
Google has just launched a new app that business owners will find incredibly useful. Google has just launched a brand new application called Google Places for Business in the App Store. The app allows users to connect their business with Google Search, Google Maps, and Google+ from an iPhone or iPod touch, and is free to download and install. Thanks to this new application, it’s now easier than ever for owners to promote their business online. In Google Places for Business, users can not only check on their online business listing, but also have the option of updating the details of their business on the go, directly from an iDevice....
...While Morter's campaigns began on Twitter, changes in the social networks have altered his approach, with Facebook sidelined in favour of Twitter and the rising Google+. "It's only going to get bigger," Morter says. "It was a slow start but I genuinely think Google+ is going to be one of the big players. It's so integrated with Google itself now and with their tie-in to YouTube it will get bigger. Unofficially, I believe the Google +1 button really does help your search engine optimisation on Google, I've got no doubts about that whatsoever, so for that side of things I think it's a vital tool." Google announced in December last year that the number of active monthly users on the site had increased to 135 million. The network integrates with other Google products, such as search, gmail, calendar and drive, and all new gmail accounts are Google+ enabled....
On April 4th at 6:30pm Pacific Time I put up a blog post on this site and shared it on Twitter and Google+ (note: this was 12:30pm on April 5th in Sydney, where I hit publish). Over the next 24 hours, something very curious and new occurred – Google+ drove as many visits to the post as Twitter did, and received a matching amount of engagement, despite the fact that my follower counts on the two networks is dramatically different (Twitter is nearly 2X Google+)...
How many of you want to use Google Plus but don’t know how to get started; even if it’s only creating your Google Plus profile? Setting out to use a complex and robust social media platform like Google+ is daunting. My Polish grandmother used to say, “You can’t start to use what you haven’t built, and you can’t build anything without a blueprint.” I wanted to give you the blueprint to help you build your Google+ profile. Google reports that 235 million users are using Google+ to +1 content, video chat with friends, and share content among friends. While only 135 million people are using the platform monthly, the newest update (and this blueprint to build the perfect Google Plus profile) might activate a larger and more engaged audience! Building and using an optimized Google Plus profile will help to make you more accessible to others. Your contacts will find it easy to discover your content and updates with a well-built Google Plus profile page....
