14 Tools to Streamline Your Social Media Marketing | Social Media Examiner

14 Tools to Streamline Your Social Media Marketing | Social Media Examiner | The MarTech Digest | Scoop.it

Digest...

#1: Find Your Audience

>> My favorite (and free) hidden gem is Followerwonk. Specific to Twitter, this tool allows users to search Twitter bios (or Twitter profiles) by keywords.

>> An influencer marketing platform, Traackr creates specific lists of influencers and their qualifications, based on the criterion put into the system—whether it’s a region (New York) or topic (chocolate-lover).

#2: Discover Relevant Content

>> SEMrush is known for paid search insights that help customers identify the phrases that a site ranks for. You can then take those keywords and put them in the copy on your site.

>> You can also use something like Google AdWords along with or instead of SEMrush for the same purpose.

>> Moz’s Fresh Web Explorer tracks the most recent mentions of a keyword, providing insight into social buzz around a brand, topic or other key terms. Track links, chart mentions and monitor mentions over time.

#3: Manage Workflow/Campaigns

>> At its simplest (the free option), Hootsuite can be used to upload content and schedule posts in advance.

>> Kapost can support complex approval workflows, map specific content to a persona, support the development of complex campaigns and track the journey through a centralized calendar.

>> Spredfast is fantastic for planning, executing and measuring interactive social media experiences.

>> Thismoment offers features similar to Spredfast, such as facilitation of engagement through methods like social mosaic walls, contest hubs and digital billboards.

#4: Measure Results

>> Socialbakers provides a simple way to measure, compare and contrast various social data touch points, such as how your social community grew this month or how brand channels performed against the competition or industry-related organizations.

>> Radian6 is a widely known tool for social measurement, and is especially beneficial for its ability to plug into Salesforce (it’s one of their marketing cloud products). If you use the Salesforce CRM, you can use it to track the customer journey across various touch points.

#5: Use Multi-Functional Tools

>> NetBase and Sysomos can be used to help find audience platforms and keywords for content, as well as monitor mentions and provide insight into conversations.

>> The TrustRadius platform is valuable from a comparison standpoint. Plug in two similar platforms and review the results.

This article is a really useful guide to social marketing for beginners, it gives five basic steps on how to track and monitor your target audience.

Ashley Brown's curator insight, October 6, 2014 11:02 AM

This article is about different tools that can help you manage your social media accounts more efficiently. Some of the tools are;

1. Find your audience

-Figure out who your target market is and which sites they visit most frequently

-Followerwonk and Traacker are two tools to find your audience

2.Discover relevant content

-find out what content is most interesting to your consumers and create content that is relevant to them

-SEMrush, Google Adwords, Moz's fresh web explorer all help you search the most recent mentions to keywords, track links etc

3.Manage Workflow/campaigns

-Make sure everyone on your team is on the same page when it comes to social media and posting things

-Hootsuite, kapost, spreadfast are all tools that help you manage your campaign and schedule posts

4. Measure results

-compile results of social media efforts at various points throughout your campaign. With this you can figure out what is working and what isn't and adjust accordingly

- social bakers, radian6 are two tolls that help you measure how your campaign is doing

5.Use multi-functional tools

-Find the tools that best fit your purpose

-Netbase and sysomos are used to help find keywords, monitor mentions and provide insights into which conversations will support your strategy

I found this article to be very useful. At my internship we are launching a social media platform for an anniversary event and we have to schedule postings in order to engage our audience. With this article I now have a list of online tools that can help us monitor and schedule our postings and find out how effective we are actually being.

Kiara Zuchkan's curator insight, September 21, 2014 7:54 PM

As a big advocate for social media marketing, I'm very surprised at some of the "bad" statistics in this infographic! In this day and age, I believe that every company needs an active, positive presence on social media in order to stay current.

Nathan Bachynski's curator insight, September 21, 2014 11:36 PM

For a new company, I think social media is a fantastic way to try and market their product. More people join social media every day and just because things like emails are more effective right NOW does not mean that in the future the tables won't be reversed. Now more than ever people are using social networks to communicate than ever before and that's not going to do any but keep progressing to even higher levels. For new businesses, I think having a strong social media campaign would be one of the best plans to attract new business, especially if they are targeting a younger audience.

Jeff Guzzo's curator insight, September 29, 2014 12:29 PM

The aritcle The Good and Bad of Social Media Marketing is is about how social media is a must have for brands today, but it is questioned by CMO's. The article provides a 'good' and 'bad' section with regards to social media in the marketplace for brands. A key point stated is that marketing budgets are expected to grow over the next 12 months in social advertising, online video, and social engagement; but the flip-side is that "social media only accounts for 1.14% of all e-commerce traffic". Another interesting point was "90% of the world's data was created within the past 2 years thanks to social media", but email conversations exceed social media conversations 40:1. A last  key point I thought was interesting was that 74% of 16-24 year olds say they cannot be without their phones, and they need to have them at all times. With that said, "85% of companies do not connect social activity to business outcomes".

It is clear given the three examples I stated that there is good and bad when it comes to social media marketing. However, there are ways to improve the effectiveness of social media marketing in businesses. Integrating "social with company websites, emails, press releases, and other marketing platforms to present a cohesive, multi-channel presence" is one step that can be taken. Another is to "use social to generate leads by monitoring and responding to potential customer's buying signals." By implementing the above -as well as other- steps into a marketing program, the generation of more ROI can be accomplished by businesses.

Social Media Marketing for B2B: The 5 Things To Do Immediately - G2M Solutions

Social Media Marketing for B2B: The 5 Things To Do Immediately - G2M Solutions | The MarTech Digest | Scoop.it

Digest...

Here are the five immediate actions business owners should take to ensure social media success:

1. Keep an eye on the numbers

Social media marketing is no longer something you do to get ahead, it’s more like the tactic you have to use if you don’t want to be left behind. Therefore, simply posting updates to your various social networks without measuring the results they bring is a huge mistake.

2. Visual content is the way forward

We’ve all read that statistic where posts with images get several more clicks than posts without images. In this day and age where everyone is time-poor, people just can’t afford to spend time on long pieces of written content. As long as they can convey your points clearly, use more images, slides, infographics and videos to engage your audience better.

3. Optimise everything!

You may think social media posts aren’t the type of posts that need to be optimised as they’re different from website content, blogs and articles. But this is not the case. Google indexes social media updates and this means that social media posts, when searched for, can show up on Google’s search results (some are dependent on whether you are logged in to the specific network).

4. Automation saves time

Do you spend time every day thinking about the posts you need to publish on your social networks? This is a huge waste of time, and comes with a risk of inconsistency, as some days you may forget to post your update. So, stop wasting your precious time and invest in a good social management tool with automation.

5. Hashtag that post

Some people stay away from hashtagging while marketers flock to it. Hashtagging your posts essentially groups them into a category and helps you to be found whenever someone clicks on that hashtag. It is quick, simple and effective.

Social Ads Purchase Influence Seen Going Beyond the Click - Marketing Charts

Social Ads Purchase Influence Seen Going Beyond the Click - Marketing Charts | The MarTech Digest | Scoop.it

Excerpt...

Just 9% of social networkers claim to have made a purchase by clicking on a social media ad, with that figure higher among men aged 18-34 (21%) and parents (19%), reports Mintel in newly-released data from a recent study. Interestingly, though, social networkers were slightly more likely to say they had purchased a product they saw advertised without clicking an ad, with 11% of respondents professing to having done so. That result suggests that social ads’ influence extends beyond direct conversions. It also brings to mind a study released late last year by ChoiceStream which found that consumers often respond to online ads with actions other than clicks. According to that survey, when consumers see an online ad that interests them, 44% of those who take action say they do so by clicking on the ad, while the remainder say they take a different action, such as searching for the product or company in question or typing in the company’s URL address directly to visit its website.

5 Myths About Social Media Marketing - Marketing Land

5 Myths About Social Media Marketing - Marketing Land | The MarTech Digest | Scoop.it

Basic/ Digest...

Myth #1: Consumers Aren’t Reading Your Social Posts

Contrary to popular arguments, not only does your social content get read, it also has the ability to influence purchasing decisions. In fact, HubSpot concluded that in 2011, “67 percent of B2C companies and 41 percent of B2B companies have acquired a customer through Facebook.”

Myth #2: Too Much Content Will Reveal Trade Secrets To Competitors

Myth #3: Social Media Cannot Heal Reputation Wounds

Myth #4: Social Successes Should Be Gauged Solely By Social Interactions

The number of social interactions you get out of a campaign are a KPI, but ultimate success should be measured by sales opportunities or revenue. Interactions may enhance the likelihood of increasing sales opportunities; but, if you don’t close any of those leads, the campaign is a failure, regardless of how many interactions were generated. Marketing exists to drive sales.

Myth #5: Social Media Marketing Costs Nothing

To create an active and engaging social media promotion, you need someone who prioritizes and implements the plan, manages the messaging, and monitors the mediums for customer feedback. Mr. Williams “quickly learned that effective social media campaigns can get quite expensive.”
