The Ministry of National Education, Children and Youth has just launched "eduBoard", a new application for all students in vocational training.

Accessible at www.eduboard.lu, the dashboard allows each student to follow their training course and individual progress online, whether registered in a DT (technician's degree), DAP (Vocational qualification) or CCP (certificate of professional competence).

EduBoard allows students to see how many modules they must follow during training, how many modules are already completed and which remain to be completed in order to successfully finalise the different stages of their progression. The information in "eduBoard" is updated semi-annually at the end of the class councils.

Access to the eduBoard is strictly personal and secured by means of the Identity and Access Management (IAM) identity and access management system set up by the Education Management Information Center (CGIE) of the Ministry of National Education, Children and Youth.

This is no question that living on a train is a radical decision to make. It is a direct challenge to the idea that you are suppose to settle into one particular area. While I doubt that this specific phenomenon will catch on, our society is becoming more mobile. People are becoming less tied down to one specific area. The Millennial generation is changing many of the previous social norms. The Millennial generation is waiting longer than any previous generation to marry and start a family. Many are even questioning the institution of marriage itself. Members of the older generations, will decry these changes. This is a familiar cycle that occurs through out history. The Older generation always decries the changes instituted by the Younger generation.

A pretty fascinating article that shows someone that pushes her boundaries everyday. A German student, Leonine Mueller, got into a dispute with her landlord and made a decision that would shock many. She would leave the apartment (not shocking) and go live on trains (very shocking). How is this possible? Well she bought a subscription that allows her to board every train in the country for free (which was cheaper than living in her apartment) and she carries just a backup and needed materials. As a college student she does her work on the trains. As they interviewed her she says how it was more than an economical decision and she wanted people to look at the "normal" and question it, why do we do what we do? She gets to travel the country and meet many new people and see things see never would have expected to get out of a college education. First off for this to work you have to have great public transportation which Germany does, in a country with no transportation or infrastructure this would have been next to impossible. She also does not have children and is young enough to be able to live day to day with this life style. It is a very cool idea and would seem like an awesome experience and at least a great social experiment, but her location for sure plays a key role in this ability to accomplish this. I will look for more stories on her and to see what her outcome was in this situation.

This graphic is so unique and informative.

The "digital learner" section on the bottom right especially is a great visual summary of many of the other articles. It includes "adaptive learning", "eLibraries" and "digital textbooks", which are all topics that have been mentioned in other articles. Some points, like "3D Printing", add another layer of possibilities.

What strikes me most about this is how the different fields flow together. It is a convergence of media, education and the work world, which makes a lot of sense. Just like the internet, everything is connected.

It seems to be the top goal to become a literate "digital citizen" in the future...

A study carried out by Compare The Market has revealed that Luxembourg is the third least affordable country to buy a property in the world.

The study analysed average property prices per square metre as well as the average disposable household income in 38 countries to calculate the cost per square metre as a percentage of annual income.

The least affordable country for property was South Korea. With the highest price per square metre (€11,396.85) and an average household disposable income of €19,199.27, its affordability ratio came to around 59.4%.

Israel was the second least affordable country. Although it had a lower property price of €6,667.35 per square metre, Israel had an average disposable income of €21,814.81, bringing the affordability ratio to around 30.6%.

The third least affordable country according to Compare The Market was Luxembourg, with an affordability ratio of 28.9%. The average disposable income in Luxembourg was fairly high compared to other countries at an average of €34,450.25, whilst the property price averaged around €9,962.76 per square metre.

The European Commission congratulates Lithuania and Luxembourg for the first ever cooperation agreement on the statistical transfer of renewable energy amounts as stipulated in the Renewable Energy Directive. The agreement signed today (26 October 2017) helps Luxembourg achieve its national renewable energy target for 2020 by receiving a statistical transfer of a specified amount of renewable energy produced in Lithuania. Lithuania reached its national renewable energy target for 2020 in 2015 and aims to further develop renewable energy in its economy.

This agreement shows that these cooperation mechanisms give EU Member States greater flexibility to reach their renewable energy targets, providing them with a useful tool to jointly develop renewable energy potential in a mutually advantageous way. In this way, countries with more cost-effective and abundant potential in renewable energy can help other countries reach their national targets, as well as help the EU as a whole achieve the 20% renewable energy target in 2020.
