It is wrong to refer to a language as vernacular - Awoniyi

One of the concerns expressed during the celebrations of this year’s International Mother Tongue Day was that some languages, including Nigerian languages, may go into extinction by 2050, Professor Adedeji Awoniyi, Nigeria’s first Professor of Early Childhood Education, stresses the need to employ local languages for pedagogy, commerce and governance. Taiwo Olanrewaju reports.
