More than half of the population is female, yet just 3% of engineering apprenticeship completions are by females. Just 4% of engineering apprentices are from a Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) background despite 13% of the UK population being from one. A fifth of the UK population has a disability but only a tenth of apprentices do.
